Taskbit Meeting Recorder
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 27, 2026
The Taskbit Meeting Recorder browser extension (“the Extension”) records web meetings you choose to record and sends them to your own Taskbit account for transcription and note-taking. This policy explains what the Extension accesses, why, and what happens to your data.
What the Extension does
When you click Record, the Extension captures the audio of the current meeting tab (and, with your permission, your microphone), and uploads the recording to your Taskbit account. Taskbit then transcribes and summarizes it. The Extension does notrecord anything unless you explicitly start it, and it shows a “REC” badge while recording.
Data the Extension accesses
- Meeting audio (tab + microphone) — captured only while you are recording, used solely to produce your transcript and meeting notes.
- Active tab title and URL — read only on supported meeting sites (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams) to label the meeting and detect that a meeting is in progress.
- Your Taskbit session — the Extension reuses your existing Taskbit login cookie to authenticate uploads. It does not collect your password.
What we do NOT do
- We do not record automatically or in the background.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do nottransmit data to any third party other than the Taskbit backend you are signed in to (and its transcription provider acting on Taskbit’s behalf).
Where your data goes
Recordings are uploaded directly to your Taskbit account’s storage and processed by Taskbit’s transcription pipeline. Handling of your recordings and transcripts after upload is governed by the Taskbit application privacy policy.
Data retention & deletion
Recordings and transcripts live in your Taskbit account; you can delete a meeting (and its recording/transcript) at any time from the Taskbit dashboard. The Extension itself stores no recordings locally after upload.
Permissions, in plain terms
tabCapture— capture the meeting tab’s audio (only while recording).offscreen— run the audio recorder in the background document required by Chrome’s Manifest V3.activeTab/tabs— read the current tab’s title/URL to label the meeting.storage— remember lightweight UI state.- Host access to your Taskbit origin and the upload storage host — to upload the recording and authenticate as you.
